This program is designed to advance those students in the pre-operational stage (Age 2-7).
About
During this stage, children learn to think symbolically and critically. Our Kindergarten readiness groups are formed based on developmental level, not exclusively determined by the age of the students. Students are worked with individually to master elements that will be encountered in kindergarten and beyond. Early introduction to these concepts helps to promote a confidence in ability and enthusiasm in learning, rather than being challenged with unfamiliar material. The scaffolding approach is used to build new knowledge onto pre-existing knowledge, so information is better able to be retained and recalled for future reference.
What We Offer
- Introduction to mathematical concepts
- Introduction to time mechanics and recognition
- Introduction to counting methods (sldp counting, manipulatives, etc.)
- Incorporation of student-directed teaching from interests, such as teaching in natural conversation
- Individualized focus on areas where improvement is needed
- Development of handwriting and writing techniques, primarily writing students’ names and practicing individual letters
- Introduction to sight words
